A new tradition this year

Brown paper packages tied up in string, these are a few of my favorite things...
I got the idea from Jennifer at hopestudios.blogspot.com

I got some small boxes and wrote to each of the children my feelings about them this past year and for their future in the coming year. I had them on the table near the tree on Christmas morning. We started off the day by each opening their boxes. Randy read the one for Angela (our daughter who passed away) aloud. It was a wonderful moment and a tradition that we will keep. Maybe I'll add spouses and grand kids, we'll see...

What a sweet idea. I wrote letters to my kids too, but just on a Christmas card. I think the box makes it really special! Next year!
Thanks for sharing!

That is a sweet idea. I didn't write anything to my kids. I was just glad to have them home and to help bring order to chaos, and then chaos to order (my house). I think I could write them all a letter for New Year's though. That could be fun and meaningful to them.

That is a wonderful tradition! Keep it up! (Although it could get overwhelming when you start to add the spouses and grandkids... maybe your kids could do the same thing when they start their families.)
