Today

Today would have been my parents 53rd wedding anniversary. I've been calculating the numbers: They were married in 1957, divorced in 1989. So that means they were married for 32 years and divorced for 21 years. They got divorced the year I had my first child.

My mom lives a few blocks from me but is on a mission right now serving in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Family History Center on Temple Square. My dad is living in Florida and is in remission from prostate cancer. He lives with a woman named Bonnie who seems nice enough though he says he doesn't want to get married. My parents never married in the temple.

I've often wondered what went wrong? Today I'm not going to pass blame. I'll just be sad today for our family but I'll also kiss my husband a little longer and hug him a little tighter before he leaves for work today.

Sometimes you never do figure things out.
You would think after being married that long that they would have figured it out.

Hugs to you today!

Hope your day gets better! And, I wish I had great words of wisdom for you but I don't, sometimes life just throws us hard things!

I'm so sorry, it is hard. That's awesome your mom is serving a mission, good for her!

I hope your dad recovers from his cancer.
