Five Question Friday 7/8

1. Do you think cursive writing is overrated? (Schools in Indiana have now voted to take teaching cursive writing out of their curriculum.)
How are kids going to learn how to sign their name, write out a note, etc... Since the keyboard, cursive writing is not as valid but don't throw it out and never expose kids to it.

2. Do you still use a pocket calendar or notepad or do you keep your info on your smart phone?
I'm old school and write out lists and notes. I love crossing things off my to do list. Sometimes even in cursive!

3. What 3 things would you save if your house was burning down? (family & pets are already safe)
files, pictures, computer

4. Country Mouse or City Mouse, err Person?
I'm a city girl. I like that I live near stores and restaurants. I also like that I get to drive by farm land every day when I leave my housing development. So both!

5. If you could pick ANY reality show to go on, which would you pick?
Maybe the Real Housewives show with my friends to show that all women aren't petty and mean to each other or House Hunters

The handwriting thing is totally overrated. My husband has THE WORST handwriting/printing on the planet. My MIL warned me to help my kids when they were young. So I was diligent with my oldest son. He had to most beautiful handwriting and printing in grade school and jr. high and I was on him all the time. But when he got to High School his writing slowly evolved to ugly and he writes EXACTLY like his father. I mean identical. So I've decided it is in the genes and it is not a big deal at all. So when teachers send me notes to work on my kids handwriting skills with them at home I now light them on fire - ha ha. (hows that for a long story oops).

Total listmaker by hand althought I do keep some things on my phone.

I would save computer files with all my pictures!

I am a total city girl - raised in busy San Francisco Bay Area. Living out in Idaho I have kind of the best of both worlds. I live in the city but the country is literally all around me.

T.V. show Hhhmmm - I don't know.

Have A GREAT weekend Lisa!!

P.S. your daughter is darling!! I was just over at her blog.

Heeheehee - I can't decide if I'm a country girl or a city girl . . . I need pretty healthy doses of both from time to time :) Currently live most in the country than city and truly LOVE it!

Country girl definitely! Cursive is important I believe, it's such a beautiful way to write!

Pictures and computer are A #1 on my list of things to protect!!

Perhaps I'd like to be on The Next Top Model...but since I don't have the look, legs, and slender body it's just not in my cards but a girl can dream right???

I asked my daughter the question about handwriting and she said she thought it was important to teach because her students could not read cursive until they learned it. But once they learned it--even after just a week, they could read everything she wrote in cursive.

Personally, I think it would be sad to lose a part of our culture like that.

As for city or country--I would love to look out my window and see country, but I want to have a city within ten minutes. That would be ideal.
