100 lb. quest

I like that quote! It's a good reminder for me. I don't think I've ever mentioned this before but I read a different motivating quote every morning. Most are quick one liners that help me start my day off positively. There are about 60 of them and when I get to the end I just start over again.

I lost 1 lb. this week. I'm in the "every other week" weight loss now it seems. Lose good one week (last week almost 4 lbs) this week only 1. It's all right. Slow and steady right?!
Here's some measurements. These are inches down since I started 5 1/2 months ago.
neck- 1.75 inches
chest- 4
ribs- 6
waist- 5
upper abdomen- 5.75
lower abdomen- 7.75
hips- 8.5
arm- 4
thigh- 7
calf- 3
I've come a ways but still have more to go..... just keep swimming, just keep swimming....

And now to some Q&A:

How do you get the food?
I go into a center once a week to get weighed and get food replacement meals for the week.

How long do you eat their foods?
I'm eating their way until I reach my goal weight.  A year of maintenance is also included in the program so for that year they will teach me how in incorporate all food while maintaining the weight. A little scary because now its easy.
How is the food?
The food is not bad.  So far today I've had oatmeal, honey mustard pretzels, chicken noodle soup and BBQ bites.  I'm having a Chipolte Salad (no beans or rice) for dinner and I'll probably have a peanut butter bar to finish out my food for the day.  Some things are better than others.  Some are terrible and others are really good (or maybe I'm just used to it)
Is there a lot of shakes?
There are shakes, about 8 different flavors.  I personally don't like shakes.  Mostly because I don't like drinking my calories.  I have them sometimes if I'm in the mood.  The orange flavor reminds me of an orange julius.  My husband loves the shakes.  His favorite is chocolate.
Is it medically supervised?
At Medifast all the clients charts are over seen by a doctor, we had to get lab tests done at first, we get regular body scans that measure your fat % and muscle%.  Each week I get my blood pressure checked.  My husband is diabetic and they have a program for that. That sold him.  I take a load of vitamins and drink a ton of water.

It is challenging to feed the family?
Yes. I rotate the same meals often (many which I don't really care for) for them. It helps somewhat.  Also If I'm in a baking mood I'll make some goodies but give them away.
So 6 meals a day and one of your own?
Yes. 5 of their meal replacements and every day you have your own meal.  They call it a lean and green meal.  It's protein (fish, chicken, pork, etc...) and a vegetable.
Is it easy to stay on the program?
Most days I'm perfect because I'm not hungry and I'm in a groove.  I have to eat every 2 to 3 hours or I get hungry. Often I'll take meals with me just in case I'm not back in time.  My husband cheats all.the.time. His weight loss is slower but he is still losing.  I'm a bit  more impatient and just want to get down to goal.
Are the foods good tasting?
Some of the food is nasty.  I've learned which ones to avoid (eggs are terrible).  But I also don't think of them as "good tasting food" more like nutritionally balanced food that's  good fuel for my body.  The brownies don't taste like real brownies but are good enough when people around me are having dessert.  That was something I had to learn.  I'd spent years eating an abundance of sweets that the "right stuff" couldn't possibly taste as good as.  If it did I'd eat to much and get fat again. I had to change my attitude about food.
Which of their foods are your favorites?
I like the chicken noodle soup, the blueberry oatmeal, the peanut butter bar, smore bar, chocolate mint bar,the oatmeal raisin bar, the honey mustard pretzels, the parmesan puffs, the pizza bites, the puddings, the brownie and chocolate chip cookie
Can you do it online?
you can do it online and get the foods sent to you.  I didn't do it that way so I don't know what they offer. I go into a center for my weigh ins.
What is the detox?
Detox is a week long. You eat 6 times a day.  Day 1and 2 : 3 fruits, 3 veggies and 3 whole grains  Day 3 and 4: 64 oz. of water and 64 oz. of lemon juice (1 cup) mixed with maple syrup (1/2 cup). Day 5 and 6: 3 fruits, 3 veggies, 2 of their shakes.  Day 7: 3 fruits, 3 veggies, 3 whole grains and 2 shakes.  Every day you have to drink 64 oz. of water and take a bunch of vitamins.(omega, B12, B6, etc...their cleanse ones too)

I tried to cut and paste with emails I received.  I have no idea why some questions are not bold like the others and why the fonts are different.  Sorry, I'm learning. Hope the answers help.
