Sweetheart Tag

A tag about the love of my life...my Randy. This idea came from Ann Marie. I used some of her questions and some that I've seen on other blogs. I can't remember where, sorry. I thought it would be appropriate for Valentines Day.

Central park in New York City before we got married. I took him home to meet the family. He passed!

On our Honeymoon in upstate NY. This was taken in the Joseph Smith house which is right by the Sacred Grove. The guide let us behind the ropes and into this room to take our picture because we told her we just got married.

How long did you date before you were married? 11 months

How long have you been married? 20 years

Where did you meet your hubby? We met at a singles ward in Riverside, CA. I just got hired as a 4th grade teacher and he had been off his mission for a year and attending school at RCC. He just got accepted to BYU when I came to town. He never went to BYU.

Who asked who out first? The first activity I went to at the singles ward was an outdoor movie that was being shown on the side of the building and everyone sat on the grass to watch. I was in the back with another guy who was also new just watching everyone when in walks Randy and his friend Craig. They started at the front and proceeded to visit with everyone there. There was a lot of people so I got to see how fun and friendly he was. I asked someone who he was and was told, " Oh, that's Randy. He's awesome and works in Orange County." That's all I needed to hear...I love the beach and I knew you had to go through Orange County to get to it! So at the end of the night I said to him, "Any time you go into Orange County let me know." He got my phone number and called me the next day. So, he asked me out but I did say I was interested, at least for a ride to the beach.

What did you do on your first date? We went to the Disneyland hotel grounds, there is a lot of stuff to do there, dancing waters, concerts, restaurants. We walked around and talked for 4 hours overlooking this pond that had little boats floating in it. Our 2nd date he took me to the beach and cooked dinner for me and we had a fire on the beach. Very romantic.

What was your favorite thing to do while dating? talking and kissing

What is your favorite quality of his? his commitment to his family and his kind heart

Does he have a Nickname for you? Leese or lover girl( that's my name on his cell phone)

What is his favorite color? whatever mine is (red)

What is his favorite sport? all of them (I married a sports freak) football- he is a big USC and BYU fan also lately the AZ Cardinals, Basketball- Lakers and the Suns, Baseball- Dodgers and Diamondbacks. He grew up in California and played all kinds of sports.

When and where was your first kiss? When I first moved to CA for a teaching job I rented a studio apt. It had no bed, no furniture, no refrigerator. All I had were my clothes and books from college. He brought over an extra TV he had for me to use. We watched it a bit that night sitting on the floor. He just crawled up close to me and planted a kiss on me. It was after our first date and before our 2nd date. He was quite an operator.

Favorite thing to do as a couple? go on dates

Do you have any children? 6 (2 boys and 4 girls)

Does he have a hidden talent? he can juggle and do simple magic tricks

How old is he? 44

Who said I love you first? He did

When did you first realize that you loved him? not long probably 2 months

How did he propose? One Sunday night a week before valentines day he took me for a drive to the Disneyland hotel grounds. We ended up at the same spot where we had talked for so long on our first date. That's when he asked me to marry him. I was totally surprised. I knew it was coming but I thought maybe on valentines day but he wanted to be different.

What do you remember about your wedding day? We got married in the LA temple. My family came in from out of town. It was great! I was teaching year round school so we scheduled it when I was off track. We had a reception in California and a week later had another one in New Jersey. For our honeymoon, we traveled for a week to New York City, Niagara Falls, Canada and Washington D.C.

What is his favorite type of music? 70's

What do you admire most about him? he's humble, teachable, confident, and smart.

I loved reading your post about your love story! I enjoyed getting caught up on your other posts as well. I am hoping to celebrate valentines next weekend when I go home. Then I might steal your idea and write about my husband as well. :-)

Thanks also for the scripture you left on my blog. I read it and loved it. It is a very comforting one and I appreciate you suggesting it. I am sorry you ever had to go through a health trial though. It isn't fun at all.
