Captain CTR

It all makes sense now. Tyler has been running around the house with a dish towel tucked into the back of his shirt for days now and I finally realize why. He doesn't watch superhero type TV shows so it puzzled me as to where the idea came from until one time I saw him with his hands on his hips in a pose that looked very familiar...I inquired and received confirmation that I was right on. I'll have to give you background...

Last year in primary instead of doing the usual spotlights. The children would be visited by Captain CTR. He would be in our neighborhood and hear about the good the children were doing (parents would tell the secretary how they had chosen the right) and give them a CTR bracelet individually and make them a JR. Captain CTR.

His motto was "Every morning, noon and night I will always choose the right" I'll say my prayers, read my scriptures, write in my journal and invite a friend to church." He said this when he came in and before he left which the children repeated. Our 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric over primary knew the Captain very well *wink wink* One would say they sounded alike. Captain CTR wore a red cape with a large CTR on it, and a white haz mat one piece jumpsuit. He looked awesome and totally got into it.

The children loved it. They were trying to be "good" so Captain CTR would talk about them. When he called them up, he would have them put their hands on their hips like he did.

Back to the original story: Most of the primary kids got done last year except for a handful for whatever reason. So he came in again this year to finish up and said that he might visit us from time to time. Last year my son was in nursery and missed all of Captain CTR's visits. Though I did share about him during our family Sunday dinners. Tyler is now a Sunbeam as of January and is in the primary room so he got to see Captain CTR once. He even shook his hand. He must of been pretty impressed. So....that's the real reason my son wants to be a superhero. He wants to be like Captain CTR.

If you'd like to read about the man behind the cape go here. He and his wife Keisa started a blog about their baby girl Eden. They would list updates on her health status before she passed away. Their honesty and testimony are inspirational. They are the reason I learned what a blog was and saw how it could reach so many people.

I thought your boy was so cute in Primary today. He likes coming-which is awesome. He's such a little missionary. I think Captain CTR can go on forever-at least in Junior Primary- The kids love him!
